Palm's chief technology officer (CTO) Bill Maggs, has resigned, the handheld-device vendor confirmed yesterday.
A replacement for Maggs - who left Internet-infrastructure company Inktomi to join Palm a year ago - has not been named, Palm spokesman Paul Rogers said.
"We do not know exactly when and where Bill will be going, but we do know that he won't be going far," Rogers said.
Maggs will continue to serve Palm as a consultant, Rogers added.
Rogers revealed that Maggs' resignation was announced by Palm's chief executive officer (CEO) Carl Yankowski in an internal email distributed on Monday, in which he said: "Bill will pursue outside opportunities related to the next phase of the Internet."
