USA today has awarded Apple's new iPod Photo 3.5 out of 4 stars in a review.
The report is full of praise for the new bread of iPod Photo, "capable of storing up to 25,000 photos – nearly the equivalent, Apple says, of 5,000 square feet of wall space – more than twice the space of an average American home".
The only criticism, other than price, is that photos are difficult to view in the sunshine, though the reviewer notes: "In fairness the displays on most cell phones or personal digital assistants are no better."
As for the iPod's inability to show video, the reviewer agrees with Apple's conviction that this feature would be unnecessary.
"The iPod would have to be much bigger and heavier, and Apple claims there's no easy content infrastructure for distributing DVD or video. On the other hand, people own their own photos. And those who want to watch videos on the road can do so these days on laptops or (far cheaper) portable DVD players," he writes.
