Digidesign has released an Intel processor native version of its Pro Tools application.
Digidesign Pro Tools LE 7.1.1 and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 software, is compatible with Intel-based iMacs, MacBook Pros, and Mac Mini computers.
The company also confirmed that it will continue to support Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered software on the PowerPC platform.
"We're thrilled to give Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered customers the ability to harness the increased processing power of Apple's new Intel-based Macs," said Digidesign general manager Dave Lebolt.
"Digidesign is committed to supporting the Mac, and this new software release gives our customers even more options when building a Pro Tools system for the studio or mobile use."
The company has also released Intel Mac–compatible versions of all Digidesign and Digidesign-distributed RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins, plus all software options - including the new Music Production Toolkit for Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered systems, as well as the DigiTranslator 2.0 and DV Toolkit 2 options for Pro Tools LE.
Digidesign confirmed it is working closely with third-party manufacturers to help them port their plug-ins to Intel Macs.
Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 are separate software downloads, available free to all current, registered users of Pro Tools LE 7 software (version 7.0 or higher) and any version of Pro Tools M-Powered software. Pro Tools LE users running software version 6.9 or earlier must purchase a Pro Tools 7 software upgrade in order to run their software on Intel-based Macs.
Digidesign will continue to support Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered software on the PowerPC platform.
