Quantum is launching the Snap Server 4100.
Available in 120GB or 240GB, the Snap Server 4100 supports over 150 users and offers RAID 5 striping, RAID 1 mirroring and Raid 0 striping. Quantum claims the Snap Server 4100 will replace traditional file servers.
Features of the server include automatic backup and recovery of files from any networked system using standard software. The Snap Server 4100 is a multi-platform server supporting Macintosh, Novell, Unix, Linux and Windows.
Safe The 4100 Server is secured by encryption and password protection. Installation is a matter of plugging in the power, connecting an Ethernet cable and switching on.
The Snap Server 4100 automatically connects to all supported networking protocols without additional configuration. Other products in the Quantum Snap Server range include the Snap Server 2000 and 1000.
All Quantum Snap Servers are self-contained, so there’s no need for software licenses. Upgrades can be downloaded from Snapserver.com.
Shipping next week, the Snap Server 4100 costs £2,300 for 120GB capacity and £3,400 for 240 GB capacity. The Snap Server product line is available from Ideal Hardware.
