Dantz has updated Retrospect 5.0 for Mac, delivering improved Mac OS X 10.2 support.

Retrospect 5.0.236 also offers improvements for Mac OS 9.x users, including faster scanning of OS X clients. The company recommends that all Retrospect 5.0 users install the update. English language installers are available for download from the company's Web site; localized version updates will be made available soon.

General OS X improvements furnished by the update include: the ability to correctly display FTP directories for Internet back-up destinations; AppleScript functions correctly when Retrospect autolaunches; the application offers an improved capacity to create bootable disks using the Duplicate operation.

Improvements specific to OS X 10.2 include the ability to perform a live restore without changing the Time Zone setting in the Date and Time system preference panes; correct operation of start-up authentication; and the ability to erase removable disk.
