Apple has confirmed that former frontman of The Verve, Richard Ashcroft, will play live on April 18 at the Apple Store, Regent Street.

Ashcroft's live gig is part of Apple's regular Live from London series. The live performance will be recorded and released exclusively through iTunes one week later. Ashcroft will be featuring some songs from his critically acclaimed recent album Keys to the World.

The singer/songwriter - known for classic The Verve hits, such as 'Bittersweet Symphony' and 'The Drugs Don't Work' - as well as his recent successes - describes himself as a "shy, introverted person who could easily melt away into the background".

He believes music can effect change: "You can radically change a person's life with a tune. I don't think people truly understand or appreciate how powerful that is."

Last month's Live From London gig featured David Gray. Six songs from Gray's eight-song performance are available for sale and download now.

Customers are advised to arrive early on April 18, as seating will be very limited. On the day, the Genius Bar and The Studio will be closed from 8pm until the store closes. The last appointments will be at 7.30pm.
