Roxio has unveiled Roxio Creator 7 – a digital-media suite marrying its photo, video, music, burning, and authoring applications for Windows systems.

Roxio Creator 7 includes new features, refinements, and an enhanced burning engine, according to the company. It combines Easy CD & DVD Creator, with PhotoSuite 7 Platinum, VideoWave 7 Pro, and, upon its European launch, Napster.

Enderle Group analyst Rob Enderle said: "Since the advent of Microsoft Office it has been clear that technology buyers favour the cost-benefit of the suite approach that Roxio is using for Roxio Creator 7.

"Roxio was one of the first to recognise this in the emerging digital media segment and Roxio Creator 7 should be preferred by an increasingly experienced buying audience because of this relatively strong benefit."

This integration is similar to that seen in Apple's iLife suite. Apple combined its iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes and iDVD applications in the iLife package in January 2003. According to a New York Times report in January: "Roxio's Creator 7 will be the closest thing to iTunes on the market – so close that it almost looks like the Apple service."

Roxio Creator 7 costs £69.99. The VideoWave 7 Pro and PhotoSuite 7 Platinum products will be available separately for £59.99 and £49.99 respectively. Prices include VAT.
