Digital River shares climbed $3.54 Friday on strong rumours claiming an imminent alliance with Apple.
An analyst told SiliconValley.com that Digital River's technology may be used to download games onto "the next version" of Apple's iPod.
While that report cites Craig Hallum analyst George Sutton describing such rumours as "questionable", TwinCities.com said Sutton: "Actually believe this rumour, as management has suggested this was in the works in recent conference calls and investor conferences."
"Sutton wrote that he believes Apple will control the downloads instead of Digital River", that report explains.
An Oppenheimer & Co. analyst also said that he expects the company to ink a significant deal with a major company "between now and Friday".
