Apple wants to scrap the open-source KHTML engine in favour of its own WebCore rendering engine, developed from KHTML.

The news, revealed in an exclusive report from Cnet, is driven by a need to resolve certain "compatibility conflicts" in Apple's Safari browser.

However, two years after moving into open-source to develop its own-brand browser, the relationship between Apple and the KHTML open-source developers is not so rosy, the report says.

Developers, it seems, are complaining that Apple has been taking more from the open-source project than it has been giving it.
