Apple has released a beta of Script Editor 2.0 for testing and feedback. The application is used to read, write, record, and save AppleScript scripts.

The beta's installer does not replace the existing Script Editor application.

Script Editor 2.0 is a Mac OS X-native application that can only be launched in the Mac OS X environment. It cannot be run from within any version of Mac OS 9.

This version offers a simplified interface, find-&-replace in script text, auto-wrapping of long script statements, multiple undos, a new dictionary browser with colour coding and grouped events and classes, application scriptability, contextual menu scripts for faster script writing, and support for Application Services.

Script Editor 2.0 requires Mac OS X 10.2.
