Sibelius has promised that Sibelius 2 - its updated music-notation software - will be available for the Mac by the first quarter of 2002.
A Sibelius spokesman said: "We're working on a version for Mac OS X 10.1 that will also be compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and later." A PC version of Sibelius 2 has already been released.
When Carbonized, Sibelius 2 will take advantage of the improvements in the OS, offering a simpler MIDI set-up, and better stability and performance. The company promises that "the Mac version boasts improved performance whichever version of Mac OS you're using".
Sibelius claims version 2 contains 200 new features, many of which are inspired by user feedback. It has been boosted with a new Arrange feature, and powerful tools, such as time coding, and the ability to export music scores to the Web, have also been added.
The application costs £595.
