Two spammers have been convicted in the US.
Brother and sister, Jeremy Jaynes and Jessica DeGroot, where convicted on three counts each in the first US felony prosecution of spammers. They were accused of sending emails with fraudulent and untraceable routing information.
Jaynes received a nine-year prison sentence, while DeGroot was fined $7,500. They had been defrauding email recipients. "In one month alone, Jaynes received 10,000 credit card orders for $39.95," reports the LA Times.
