Apple has out-performed its US computer rivals and now holds 5 per cent of the US computer market, according to the latest analysis from Gartner.
Gartner found that Apple had the best quarter among the top five US PC suppliers. Apple now holds 5 per cent of the US market, Gartner said, noting that Mac shipments increased 30 per cent in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the first quarter of 2006.
An AppleInsider report into Gartner's research notes that even rapid sales of Windows Vista, "scarcely made a dent in Apple's marketshare during the first quarter of the year."
Apple is now the fifht biggest PC manufacturer in the US, with 5 per cent. Toshiba is number four with 5.4 per cent; Gateway is third with a 7.7 per cent share, HP second, with 25.7 per cent and Dell leads the pack with 27.9 per cent of the US market.
