Apple has issued a rare comment in response to rumour and speculation regarding the health of CEO Steve Jobs.
Many Mac watchers noted that Jobs appeared thinner and somewhat less energised than before. Their observation led many to speculate that Jobs may be unwell. Some pundits voiced concerns based on Jobs' pancreatic cancer operation of 2004.
Apple's growing stock options problem may also have caused Jobs some sleepless nights, as the company engages in an internal investigation of irregularities in the way it has granted options going back half a decade.
Information Week contacted Apple's vice president of corporate communications Katie Cotton. The magazine asked after Jobs' health.
In a rare moment of revelation, Apple responded to the speculation-led enquiry, saying: "Steve's health is robust and we have no idea where these rumours are coming from."
