SuSE Linux 7.0 for Power PC, which allows Macs to run the Linux operating system, has been released.
The OS comes with a manual and five CDs containing over 1,000 applications. It costs £30 (excluding VAT). 60 days of installation support is also included in the price
The software bundle includes business and multimedia applications, emulators and a wide range of network tools and editors. HTML editors and GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) - a Photoshop-like application - are also included. MoL (Mac on Linux) allows users to access a network-capable Mac OS in a window, or in full-screen mode.
SuSE Linux 7.0 has an integrated installation tool called Yast2 – this automatically recognizes and configures the hardware during the installation process. The operating system is also capable of recognizing and configuring common graphics subsystems, such as ATI's Rage 128 graphics card.
