Security firm Symantec's chief executive John Thompson thinks more people should buy Macs to help protect themselves from online security threats.
Speaking at a conference in California, he said his company "thinks more people ought to buy Macs".
He observed that Microsoft's huge market share and multiple vulnerabilities makes Windows a "target-rich" environment for hackers.
However, Thompson also warned that should Apple's share of the market climb, then hackers are bound to become interested in developing ways to hack a Mac.
He urged computer users to field multiple levels of security protection to ensure they don't get affected by viruses, phishing attacks or other malware.
