Apple has begun shipping its wireless network storage-cum WiFi base station device, Time Capsule.
Preordered units are shipping, Apple spokesman Anuj Nayar told Computerworld US. Apple's online store in the UK now shows a seven-day wait before new orders will begin to ship. The product was originally scheduled to ship in February.
TIme Capsule is designed for use with Leopard systems. It's a hard drive included within an AirPort Extreme Base Station which users can charge Apple's Time Machine feature to back information up to.
Two versions are available, one with a 500GB hard disk drive, for £199, and a 1 terabyte model for £329 (including VAT).
However, Leopard users have complained that Apple has not enabled automated back-ups to older hard drives connected to an Extreme Base Station using the network drive feature.
