E-consultancy and NOP will host the event. Just 100 places are available "by industry nomination only".
Berners-Lee will share the stage with Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for the DTI; CEO of lastminute.com Brent Hobermann and David Docherty, board director of YooMedia and previously managing director of broadband at Telewest and director of new media at the BBC. The speakers aim to recognize the contribution of 100 key individuals to the development and growth of ecommerce and the Internet in the UK over the last ten years.
The hosts explained the rules of attendance: “The guest list for the Internet Decade is limited to 100 and attendees will be invited following nationwide industry nominations. So you will only attend the event if the industry believes you have made a significant contribution to the Internet”.
Associate director at NOP World Howard Barber said: “The event is designed to be a celebration of the Internet, thanking those that have made a substantial commitment, valuable contribution or a significant difference to the industry. This is not just for those who have raised the profile of online commercially, but for the academics, government and community builders across the Internet who have helped shape our future”.
Attendees must be UK residents. The hosts are open to industry nominations by email as of today.
