Apple has updated Web-application development software WebObjects to version 5.2.
The release includes support for Web services, improved J2EE integration, Java Web Start integration, and improved streaming file upload. WebObjects 5.2 requires Mac OS X 10.2 and costs $699.
WebObjects has an integrated development environment that creates Web services or three-tier Java server apps.
It also creates or allows use of Web services based on SOAP (simple object access protocol), XML (extensive mark up language) and WSDL (Web services description language).
Tools for code-free generation, configuration, and testing of Web services from existing database assets are also included.
The update is available only on Apple's US Web site.
