Adobe has announced its plans to ship a new Photoshop 7.0 plug-in, designed to maximize performance of that application on Apple's new G5 Power Macs. The free plug-in will make Photoshop run twice as fast as it did when running on any previous system.
Adobe vice president of graphics applications development Greg Gilley said: "Fuelled by demand for the Healing Brush, digital camera RAW file support, and a host of other innovative features, Photoshop 7.0 is a must-have application for creative professionals and digital photographers.
"The future of Photoshop on the Macintosh platform is being geared around exploiting the power of OS X and tapping the hardware performance of a new generation of G5 systems," he said.
The plug-in will be made available as a free download from Adobe's Web site when Apple ships its G5 machines in August.
