Xerox has bought Tektronix’s colour Printing and Imaging Division for $925 million.
Xerox simultaneously launched a new Office Printing Business, merging both companies’ technology, marketing and distribution channels. The new combination has a 30 per cent market share, second only to printer giant Hewlett-Packard.
Tektronix’s colour printer line merges with Xerox’s monochrome printer offerings to create a full line of office products, available through more than 16,000 resellers worldwide. The new firm will be releasing a series of aggressively priced new machines over the coming year, supported by a multi-million dollar advertising campaign.
The acquisition is the largest document-related acquisition in Xerox's history.
