The AirPods Max are now here, but Apple is apparently still at work on yet more new AirPods headphones due to launch in the first half of 2021.

The new third-generation AirPods are said to be reminiscent of the AirPods Pro in terms of design.

According to the South Korean technology site The Elec, Apple will launch the third generation AirPods at some point during the first half of 2021.

This doesn't mean that these new AirPods will share all the features with the AirPods Pro though. Don't expect to find transparency or active noise reduction, for example.

The new AirPods are also unlikely to see a price change. According to the Elec's source, the difference in price between the third generation AirPods and AirPods Pro is about 20 percent.

Apple is expected to hold an Apple event in March, so we may see the new headphones then.

In November, a Chinese site published pictures said to show the third generation AirPods. The pictures of the new AirPods suggest that the headphones are bigger and rounder like the AirPods Pro. Compared to the current model the stems are shorter, something that is said to please many users.

As for the charging case - it is smaller than the current version, but the shape is more square compared to the equivalent of the AirPods Pro.
