Despite the lack of news on the subject since the launch of the last mini back in March 2019, sources report that Apple remains fully committed to the sixth-generation iPad mini. The new model will be launched in a matter of months, they say.

Now the site Front Page Tech - which was founded recently by the tech leaker and YouTube personality Jon Prosser - has published renders supposedly showing off the design of the upcoming small tablet. The site says these images are based on the input of "multiple sources" and created by the artist RendersbyIan.

The big news is that the screen will be slightly larger than in the current model, without the external dimensions changing much. In other words, the framing bezels around the screen will become significantly slimmer.

The dimensions are said to be 206.3 x 137.8 x 6.1mm, a very slight increase on the current 203.2 × 134.6 × 6.1mm.

Front Page Tech doesn't commit itself to a prediction of exactly how big the screen will be, but according to previous rumours, it could be somewhere between 8.4in and 9in.

As for the rest of the specs and features sheet, we can look forward to an A14 processor, 5G support, better speakers and compatibility with the Apple Pencil. In addition, the port will be USB-C instead of Lightning and Touch ID will be built into the power button - a necessary step, as seen on the latest iPad Air, because the Home button will disappear.

The sixth-generation iPad mini is said to come in three colours: black, silver and gold. There have previously been rumours of support for the new mini-LED screen backlight tech, but it now looks like this upgrade will delayed until the next model.
