Truphone has introduced Truphone 3.0, described as a major update of the free Apple iPhone software application.
Truphone is a mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application that routes calls across the Internet. Calls are free to other Truphone users, those with Skype and Google Talk via Wi-Fi, while calls to destinations worldwide are offered at competitive prices.
Truphone also offers the ability to Instant Message Skype, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and Google Talk contacts without cost.
Truphone 3.0 adds improved voice quality to calls, which the company believes significantly enhances the users' experience. A more intuitive easy to use experience is promised with this update along with enhanced account management features to make using Truphone simple.
A new integrated messaging tool helps unify all IM communities in a single place. Users can now simply manage all their IM communication from a single page within the Truphone, eliminating the need to constantly jockey between different applications or even different pages within an application.
"Customers tell us they want three things: simplicity, quality and a good deal. Those principles drive our innovation, and Truphone 3.0 delivers on all three. We've dramatically improved our UI and account management tools. We've eliminated the need for compression by utilising new advances in signal processing, making calls crystal clear.", said Geraldine Wilson, CEO at Truphone.
Available from the Apple iTunes App Store Truphone 3.0 is free and requires the iPhone 2.1 Software Update.
Truphone has recently been nominated for a 2009 Macworld Award in the category of Best iPhone/iPod touch application.
