SuperDuper! full review
SuperDuper! could well be the best name for a software application ever. An easy-to-use back-up tool, SuperDuper! distinguishes itself from the competition in two ways. First, it has an interface that explains in clear terms exactly what is happening during the back-up process. Secondly, it costs about the same as a takeaway for two.
The software’s job is to help you make bootable back-ups of your current system through a menu-driven interface that lets you easily choose a destination drive and back-up type. The best target
is removable FireWire drive. The software supports USB drives, but the back-ups it makes won’t be bootable on PowerPC systems. You can create a full back-up of your machine without buying the software. Registration unlocks advanced features like scheduling and Smart Updates.
Smart Updates save time by only backing up the data that’s changed since the last cycle. Making this a daily job means you’re always ready if your drive fails to boot. Scheduling is explained in the same detail as all other operations, and allows you to select the day and week when regular back-ups are made.
Though ease-of-use is a key feature, SuperDuper! has advanced tools too. One of our favourite features in the full version is Sandboxes. This lets you create system back-ups to external drives. It makes keeping a system-only back-up in OS X easy.
