ENO Opera Guide for iPhone review
The ENO Opera Guide for iPhone or iPod touch offers users a chance to find out a little more about the English National Opera's forthcoming season. Based near London's Covent Garden, ENO is Britain's only full-time repertory opera company and enjoys a worldwide reputation for striking and adventurous productions.
The guide offers a regularly updated but brief basic diary of forthcoming events alongside more detailed listings that cover individual attractions. As each season ENO produce a high proportion of new productions this proves a useful insight into what to expect from less familiar events and emerging talent.
ENO Opera Guide includes the same striking imagery used by the company for press ads, posters and displays so you are not simply browsing blocks of text. Layout is attractive and intuitive and easy on the eye. Users can also listen to audio clips from the productions ENO have in store and watch behind-the-scenes filmed interviews with cast members and creative teams.
Events listings and any accompanying images are stored on your device for offline reading. You'll need an internet connection to listen to sound clips, videos and buy tickets. Although zoomable, the diary listings, which resemble a single A4 page and currently run into July, aren't the best we have seen. Hopefully new content will be added as the ENO year takes shape.
For fans of the esteemed English National Opera the ENO Opera Guide is an attractive iPhone application. Informative and stylish, the pocket size guide is a worthy companion if you’re planning a night at the opera.
