NeoTV 550 full review

Netgear’s NeoTV 550 is a very well connected device, with composite and component video connectors alongside the main HDMI interface for your TV. It also sports a S/PDIF digital audio connector for surround sound output, an eSATA interface for high-speed drives, twin USB ports, and even an SD card slot for displaying photos from your digital camera. On top of that it supports most of the codecs and file formats you care to think of.

The NeoTV’s interface is fairly straightforward, with a clean and tidy graphical display that lets you quickly choose music, photos, videos or online services such as YouTube. However, things got a bit confusing when we used the NeoTV to try to play some music and video files stored on a networked Mac.

The NeoTV couldn’t detect the Mac’s music and video folders, even though we had run the NeoTV software on our Mac, and it took us a while to get everything working properly.

The NeoTV 550 offers good connectivity options but no storage
