InstaBackup full review

InstaBackup from independent iOS and Mac developer David Smith is a useful and inexpensive tool for bringing order to your Instagram collection. The popular, 80 million users and counting, photo sharing service encourages spontaneity, snapping on the go via your camera and third party apps. Although, these are by default saved to your camera roll, it's not always clear which images have been uploaded, especially if you have more than one iOS or Android device.

For Mac users, InstaBackup resolves this issue using a simple interface to login to Instagram and download your images. Users can select where to keep and store those images when prompted. The download is fast and efficient, placing images in the order they were uploaded and even providing date and time information as the file name. We managed to download 4,000 plus images in just a few minutes.

The only real downside here is that images are only saved to the default 612 x 612 pixel resolution, which Instagram uses to display your photos. Clearly it's not ideal but at least you can have a back-up of all your images in one place, in order and in a uniform resolution.
