Knomo iPod touch 2G sleeve review
London-based Knomo is probably best known for a stylish range of leather laptop and lifestyle bags that number Hollywood stars and a London Mayor among high-profile fans. The move into iPhone and iPod covers and sleeves seems an obvious one, and the same attention to detail and quality build now runs through the entire range of Knomo accessories.
The Knomo iPod touch 2G sleeve, available in black or white, is effectively a soft pouch to slip your iPod into, rather than the clip-on protectors and screens offered by others. That may be a downside if you are expecting heavy wear and tear, but the Knomo option is much more pleasing on the eye than encasing your iPod in some tacky, transparent, plastic cover.
Hand crafted using quality, soft, full-grain leather and finished with a rather lovely and tactile velveteen interior, the sleeve is a snug fit so sits perfectly in your pocket without adding bulk or weight. Depending on which way you slide the iPod in, you can access the headphone jack, volume control and dock connector without continually removing it from the pouch.
The Knomo branding, such as it is, is low key. The single embossed logo blends well with the overall pattern, while the pouch is cut from a single piece of leather. The white sleeve, particularly, will show dirt, but this can easily be rectified with some gentle cleaning.
This is a smart and sumptuous way to ensure your iPod touch stays snug on your travels. You’ll still need to wipe your iPod clean of finger marks after extended use, but the Knomo pouch offers easy access to your iPod au naturale with a style that matches Apple for good looks.
