knomo Kobe full review
Knomo offers a range of urban bags and accessories named after cool and stylish destinations worldwide. Amongst the latest additions is the Kobe, after the sixth largest city in Japan, situated on the island of Honshu. The soft messenger bag is every inch the knomo brand philosophy, combining style with substance with a look that is both classic and contemporary.
Available in brown, tan and black, it's understated and yet attractive enough to catch the eye. A combination of full grain leather and fabric made from recycled bottles, the Kobe holds up to a 15-inch MacBook within a quilted pouch, which promises to be shockproof although without throwing the bag out the window it is hard to test.
As well as room for your MacBook, the Kobe offers plenty of space for everyday essentials, with interchangeable elastic pockets both inside and out. For expensive, tech devices including iPhone or iPod, some pockets are well zipped to deter the skilled hands of opportunist thieves. An adjustable shoulder strap is wide and feels comfortable, our laptop nicely balanced when out and about.
The bag also has a slip pocket at the back for placing the Kobe over a trolley handle, which is a good idea as you'd hate to loose such a valuable investment on your travels. Like all knomo accessories, the Kobe comes with a unique 'If Lost' ID number, which while a worthy idea, is very much in the hands of whoever finds your bag and belongings.
At a few pounds under £200, the Kobe doesn't come cheap and it's hard to recommend as an impulse buy. That said, we feel the bag is well crafted to a high standard and we suspect, and hope, it will be around long after your laptop has retired from service.
