Cards for iPhone review
Sometimes, Apple just gets it right with something, more or less from the outset, but it’s the real world that gives it problems.
Cards is like a miniature version of iPhoto’s card creation function. You can pick from 21 card designs, customise the outside with a photo from your Camera Roll, alter the text on the inside and then enter an address for the envelope, direct from your contacts if you want.
There are designs for different special occasions, and Cards has various nifty features that take advantage of the iPhone’s mobility: travel designs display your current location, and the location where a photo was taken will be added to the card.
Cards’ problem is in the physical world: the card you send will cost a hefty £3.99 to create and send and will take nine to 16 days to be dispatched.
As an app, Cards is simple and powerful. Sadly, the beautiful cards cost too much and take too long to arrive.
