Mobile Trek WC review
Whereas all the other wheeled cases we've tested can double as a small rolling suitcase, Brenthaven’s Mobile Trek WC is a dedicated laptop bag on wheels. If you were hoping to squeeze in some clothes, you’ll be packing very light. At 37.5 x 43.2 x 19.1cm in size it’s smaller than the other bags tested, but at 3.13kg it’s not the lightest.
Your laptop is cradled in a padded section within the main compartment, but, unfortunately, this bag doesn’t benefit from Brenthaven’s CORE Protection System, which usually means padded panels all around the laptop. The padding is on four sides, but not the back and top. It’s suspended just above the base of the bag to protect it from bumps, but is still quite close to the floor.
The pocket takes a laptop up to 15.4in but a 15in MacBook Pro is less than half the size of the thickest laptop the bag can accommodate and therefore moves around quite a bit. Regrettably, there is no way to adjust the fit. This is a real letdown because with wheeled bags it’s more important than ever that the laptop fits snugly due to the various bumps it will encounter as you pull it along.
The Mobile Trek WC shows Brenthaven's flair for design and build quality, but we're somewhat disappointed by the relatively small size and the lack of Brenthaven's CORE protection system.
