Sequential 2 full review

We’ve looked at tools designed for the twilight world of digital comic reading before – but none quite as easy to use as Sequential. With full-screen mode and the ability to display folders full of digital images as well as archives, it’s a front runner for the best tool too.

Designed as a comic viewer, most users will be happy with Sequential’s folder reading features. Much faster than iPhoto, Sequential displays any image folder as a simple slideshow, with or without navigation thumbnails. You can view pictures in a Window or full size, scaled to fit your screen if necessary. Clicking on images advances through the folder in the sort order of your choosing. Select to view files in order of creation or modification date, name, file size, or set them to random. When you restart Sequential, it remembers what you were doing last and continues browsing from that point.

Another handy feature is that the program can browse through compressed ZIP archives – useful for graphic design tasks. In fact, it supports a wide range of formats, including CBR and CBZ comic archives, Adobe PDFs and even RAR compressed files.

As a comic reader, Sequential lacks some of the friendlier features found in rivals such as Comical. The navigation tools are minimal, though intuitive enough to use. We did miss simple things like back and forward buttons, however.
