Genuine Fractals 6 Professional full review
Genuine Fractals offers a way to add inches to your photos without resorting to image pixilation. While Photoshop already has the tools to do this, Genuine Fractals expands the process to super-size proportions, with the ability to increase image size by up an impressive 1,000 per cent. Both in print and on screen the sharp and detailed results are exceptional.
Like other onOne plug-ins the user interface is clear, intuitive and fuss free. A series of collapsible panes includes a Navigator and controls for adjusting Pixel Dimensions, Document Size, Texture Control, Sharpening, Film Grain, Tiling and Gallery Warp. Pixel Dimensions and Document Size are key adjustments, with the ability to instantly adjust size and resolution for output, including various printer settings. New texture presets for common image scenarios are offered, while Sharpening and Film Grain tools should ensure quality results. The ability to batch process images is a plus, although it took a while to do so. More than sixty built-in document size presets help take the guess work out of cropping to popular print sizes.
Files no longer need to be flattened before scaling and there’s support for resizing Photoshop files with multiple layers, including adjustment layers, non-rasterised text layers, smart objects, paths and alpha channels. Genuine Fractals 6 Professional Edition adds support for the CMYK colour space, however, the standard version can work on RGB, Grayscale, and Lab only.
For those looking for additional value, the onOne Plug-In Suite 4.5 bundles six applications in one package, including Genuine Fractals 6 Professional Edition, at a significant saving on buying them individually. onOne should also be commended for offering a range of excellent video tutorials.
