If you’ve ever seen a TV editor in action, you’ll see a blur of fingers on their multi-coloured keyboards. The colour-coded keyboards act as a shortcut guide. Now these special keyboards are available for other applications, such as Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.
Our Photoshop keyboard was based on the normal Apple Pro keyboard. It takes a little while to get used to using such a colourful keyboard, because the letters on it play second fiddle to the icons and tool names on the keys. I found myself using Photoshop’s keyboard shortcuts more often, and the keyboard constantly reminded me that there were other shortcuts available.
If you use Photoshop a lot, this is going to make shortcuts easier. Of course, if you were a real pro, you wouldn’t be looking at your keyboard. But for the rest of us, it’s a great help. If you already have an Apple Pro keyboard, then you can upgrade it with a set of keys and save a few quid.
