JetFlash 185 Review
You could be forgiven for thinking that Transcend’s JetFlash 185 is all about style. This USB drive is the ultimate in elegance. Its Zinc Alloy body is so shiny you can see your reflection in it and the attached chain looks like a bracelet, although it is unlikely it would fit on your wrist. While Transcend claims that this shiny coating is fingerprint resistant, it isn’t, and the fact that the drive ships with a cloth suggests the company knows this.
However, it isn’t all about good looks. This USB stick also offers speedy transfer times – 8.25 minutes for 1GB of data. As the smallest stick here it is possible to fit it into a USB port on a laptop without needing to shift the other cables out of the way. It comes in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities. We tested the 4GB version.
The only negatives are that the lid could be easily lost and the included encryption software doesn’t work with a Mac, but that latter point is the case with the majority of current USB sticks.
