Sony DPP FP95 review

The Sony FP95 is well designed and comes with a carry handle to make its 1.2kg weight easier to transport. As well as being very compact, it’s also easy to use. The huge 3.6in LCD screen is the largest in our round-up and adjusts to suit your viewing angle.

Like the CP770, the FP95 supports SD, XD, Memory Stick and CompactFlash cards. Images are previewed via the screen and navigation buttons, while the menu button offers access to a range of simple edits – red-eye removal, rotating, reduction and enlargement – plus more creative edits such as adding frames or superimposing images.

PictBridge capability means you can print directly from a digital camera. It can be connected to your Mac via a USB cable or used with a Bluetooth adaptor to receive images from a mobile phone. A HDMI-out port lets you view photos in high definition on a TV.

The FP95 is a dye-sublimation printer, which means colours are layered on to the paper one by one. Because of this push/pull technique, it needs room for the paper at the front and the back. Sony’s pack with sufficient ink and paper for 120 6 x 4in photos costs £29.99.

OUR VERDICT

Printing a 6x4in im age took 42 seconds and we were impressed with the vivid colours and clear detail.
