Snapseed full review

Snapseed enables you to edit images from your iPad’s photo albums quickly and easily. Your chosen photo fills about two-thirds of the screen and you can choose to work in portrait or landscape orientation.

A toolbar runs along the bottom of the screen – or down the left in landscape – select one of the icons here to make changes to your photo. Tune Image, for example, gives you full control over the brightness, ambience, contrast, saturation and white balance. Selective Adjust lets you add control points to change saturation, brightness or contrast of a selected area, rather than the whole photo.

There are filters and frames for adding effects to your photographs, such as vintage, drama, grunge and center focus, which can provide some good results. The gestures used to adjust a photo, by now, feel like second nature – slide a finger from one side to the other to increase or decrease the strength of an effect; pinch to straighten, rotate or crop an image.

Remembering to click Apply before you hit the back button is something you’ll need to get used to. If you’ve been working hard perfecting an image, and then accidentally click back, all that effort will be lost. Once you’re happy, you can share the end result via email, Flickr or Facebook.
