STM glove neoprene sleeve for MacBook full review
STM make a fine range of rugged laptop bags for the hardy traveller that should still serve you well long after you've settled down and hung up your boots. The STM glove neoprene sleeve is something a little different, a lightweight, extremely portable alternative to carrying a bag around. Made from the same material used in wetsuits, the sleeve has a tactile feel and not unpleasant rubbery smell. Available in five colours - black, burgundy, magenta, teal and orange - and three sizes - small (13-inch), medium (15-inch) and large (17-inch), the sleeve, as the name suggests, fits pretty much like a glove.
A quality zip does a decent job of securing your MacBook, while what STM calls an unique internal 'zipper guard' promises to protect your laptop from any scratches while adding a touch more padding. Additionally, the sleeves seems are double cross-stitched and taped to ensure durability. Weighing in between 0.50 lbs (0.24 kg) and 0.66 lbs (0.3 kg), the sleeve adds little in the way of weight or bulk and can easily be rolled up or left flat when not in use. While clearly portable, the STM glove sleeve offers limited protection compared to a more sturdy bag, although MacBook and sleeve could be carried in a larger, more protective bag if needs be.
